Our Favorite Things to Put in Hot Dog Holders That Aren’t Hot Dogs

The thing we make at Park Your Buns may be called a hot dog holder, but that doesn’t mean you can only put a hot dog in it. If you visit a fair, amusement park, or any outdoor venue that serves food, you’ll see a lot of hot dog holders. Many of them will be holding hot dogs, but plenty will hold something else. Any custom-printed item is something you’re going to have to buy in bulk, so if you’re wondering how on earth you’ll use up all those holders, the answer is that you don’t have to limit them to hot dogs.

Hot dog holders aren’t just for hot dogs. Here are three of our favorite things to put in a holder and enjoy on the go.

Lobster Rolls

It’s the obvious alternative. Lobster rolls usually use the same buns as hot dogs, so the shape is a perfect fit. As a New England staple, lobster rolls are the king of summer hand-held food, and deserve the top spot among hot dog alternatives. Even if you only serve them seasonally, lobster rolls are the perfect way to get some more use out of your bun holders and justify your bulk order.

Ice Cream Tacos

Moving into the realm of sweet offerings, we have to mention the ice cream taco. Rather than shaped into a cone, the waffle batter is crisped into a taco shape, which can be filled with ice cream, coated with chocolate, and garnished with other toppings. Ice cream novelty lovers appreciate the nostalgia, but there’s a point when the taco shell cracks and things get a bit messy. Enter the bun holder. It catches what you drop and keeps your hands from getting sticky, so you don’t waste a single bite.

Pastries

Staying in the sugary realm. There are plenty of pastries that are the perfect shape to fit in a hot dog bun holder. Eclairs, stick doughnuts, churros, and even brownie bars can all be perfectly housed in a bun holder and enjoyed with minimal mess. Pastries are often glazed or coated in sugar, so having a buffer between your treat and your hand keeps you from getting your fingers—and everything you touch—sticky.

Bun Holders: Don’t Limit Yourself to Hot Dogs

People may call them hot dog holders, but that’s not all they’re good for. Frankly, an oblong food is the perfect fit for a bun holder. Check out our online design and ordering tools to add your logos, QR codes, social media handles, and more to your custom holders.
